Maui Hoops: Hillman leads Alabama to 78-56 win over Chaminade

LAHAINA, Hawai'i — Sophomore guard Senario Hillman set his career high for a second straight game, scoring 22 points in Alabama's 78-56 victory over Chaminade on Tuesday in the consolation round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational.

Hillman had 16 points in the Crimson Tide's 92-69 opening-round loss to Oregon. He was 10-of-14 from the field on Tuesday.

Alabama (2-2) broke the game open with a 23-2 run in the first half that gave it a 37-16 lead. Alonzo Gee had half of his 12 points in the run during which eight players scored for the Crimson Tide.

Chaminade (0-2) went 0-for-14 from the field and committed seven turnovers in the run that lasted 12 minutes.

Darrell Birton hit four 3-pointers and had 16 points for the Silverswords, who lost 115-70 to No. 1 North Carolina in the opening round.

Chaminade, a Division II school, fell to 5-67 in the tournament it has hosted since 1984.
