Dec. 11 concert Sedaka tickets go on sale tomorrow

Tickets go on sale tomorrow for Neil Sedaka's Dec. 11 concert at Blaisdell Concert Hall — his first time in the municipal facility. Sedaka, a prolific singer, composer and pianist, will perform at 7:30 p.m. — his first gig at the Blaisdell. In previous visits, he sang at the Hawai'i Theatre and the Kahala Hilton/Kahala Resort. Early in his career, he also played at the Civic Auditorium in the late 1950s. Sedaka is known for a string of hits like "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," "Calendar Girl," "Solitaire,""Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen" and "Laughter in the Rain." Tickets: $45, $37.50, $25. ELI REED
PHOTOJOURNALIST TO SPEAK AT UH
Renowned photojournalist Eli Reed will give a lecture tomorrow and offer a workshop Saturday at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa. Reed's photos have been featured in Life and National Geographic magazines, and he has worked for several Hollywood directors, including John Singleton and Spike Lee. He now teaches photojournalism at the University of Texas and is directing several films. The lecture is at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the UH-Manoa Art Building Auditorium.
