Big Island police arrested a 31-year-old man for investigation of a fatal shooting this morning in Hilo.

The suspect was arrested on Kauhane Street and booked for second-degree murder. Police did not release the suspect's name.

Police identified the shooting victim as Cameron Selea'itu Mauga, 33, of Hilo. Police responded to a complaint about a fight and gunshots heard at Puhi Bay and found Mauga with a gunshot wound to the chest at 9:07 a.m. He was taken to the Hilo Medical Center where he died at 10:20 a.m., police said.

Mauga's criminal record included four convictions, all for misdemeanor and petty misdemeanor offenses.
