Two Honolulu Fire Department boats today assisted in the rescue of four people whose boat overturned in the Ke'ehi channel.
HFD Capt. Terry Seelig said people were already assisting the boaters when fire rescue personnel, who responded to the 9:15 a.m. alarm, arrived at scene. By 9:30 a.m., firefighters reported all those aboard the overturned 18-foot motorboat were accounted for and there were no injuries, Seelig said.
Fire Rescue 2's boat and a HFD 17-foot work boat assisted in righting the overturned boat and moving it to shore so it would not create a hazard to other boats at the channel entrance. The work was completed at 10:30 a.m.
