Cardinals' Boldin has surgery
Associated Press
TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin is out indefinitely following surgery on a facial bone fractured in a helmet-to-helmet hit during last Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt said the surgeon who operated on the fractured sinus Thursday night told him that a hockey player who underwent a similar procedure was playing 10 days later.
"And that's a violent sport, too," Whisenhunt said. "The doctor felt like it would give him the quickest chance to get back."
Boldin was ruled out of today's game against Buffalo.
The NFL suspended Jets safety Eric Smith for one game and fined him $50,000 for the hit.
BENGALS
HENRY ACTIVATED
Receiver Chris Henry was activated yesterday by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Cincinnati released running back Kenny Watson to open a roster spot for Henry. Watson sat out a 20-12 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday with a hamstring injury suffered during practice the previous week.
Henry was released by the Bengals following his fifth arrest in the offseason. Owner Mike Brown took him back over the objections of coach Marvin Lewis, who had no interest in the troubled receiver.
Henry missed the first four games of the season because of his latest suspension for violating the NFL's conduct policy. Henry also was suspended for the first eight games last season.
BILLS
MCGEE SIDELINED
Starting cornerback Terrence McGee won't play today against the Arizona Cardinals because of a sprained left knee.
McGee, originally listed as doubtful on Friday, didn't make the trip to Arizona.
