  • AIG Hawaii Executive Vice President Ronald Hashimoto has retired from AIG Hawaii but will remain involved with the company in a consultant capacity. Hashimoto joined AIG Hawaii in 2000, after previously serving as president and chief executive officer of HIH American Insurance Co. He also served as president and chief operating officer of Pacific Insurance Co., president of Industrial Insurance Co., and vice president of underwriting for First Insurance.

  • Victoria Niederhauser, an associate professor at the School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene, University of Hawai'i at Manoa, is one of 20 nurses in executive leadership roles nationwide selected as a 2008 Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow.

    Now in its 11th year, the three-year fellowship program is designed to strategically position the voice of nursing across many sectors of the economy in a healthcare system undergoing unprecedented change and challenges.

  • University of Hawai'i at West O'ahu lecturer and alumnus Wayne Tanna was recently selected as one of eight finalists for Campus Compact's 2008 Thomas Ehrlich Faculty Award for Service-Learning. As a finalist, Tanna will be featured as part of the Campus Compact Web site along with a description of his service work. He will participate in a concurrent session during the annual meeting of the Association of American Colleges and Universities in Seattle, Wash.

  • CB Richard Ellis Hawaii executive vice president Frances Okazaki was recently honored as Commercial Broker of the Year by the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, Hawai'i Chapter.

    Okazaki joined Coldwell Banker Commercial, CBRE's predecessor, in 1987 as an office leasing specialist. She has held positions of sales director, managing director and senior vice president before she was promoted to executive vice president in 2006.

  • Anthology Marketing Group has won the Hawai'i region Outback Steakhouse International integrated marketing account for seven restaurants in Hawai'i.

    Anthology Marketing Group is Hawai''s largest integrated marketing practice with four divisions: McNeil Wilson Communications, Laird Christianson Advertising, StarrTech Interactive and Qmark Research.

  • The American Institute of Certified Planners has inducted Mark Hastert into the elite membership of AICP's College of Fellows.

    Hastert is being named a Fellow of AICP for individual achievement in the planning profession. Hastert, who retired in 2003, was principal of Helber Hastert & Fee, Planners Inc. in Hono-lulu for 23 years.

  • The Queen's Medical Center has honored Dr. Morris Mitsunaga and Dr. Whitney Limm as the 2008 Ke Kauka Po'okela Outstanding Physicians of the Year.

    The award recognizes physicians on the QMC staff who exemplify high quality care, professional conduct and outstanding contributions to the medical field.

    Mitsunaga is the chief of orthopedics at Queen's. Limm, a general and transplantation surgeon, is the medical director of operating room and same-day surgery at QMC.

  • McDonald's Restaurants of Hawaii's human resources team presented with the HR Award of Excellence at the recent McDonald's Worldwide Convention. The team of four McDonald's of Hawaii representatives was selected as one of three recipients of this national recognition.

    It was the first time the award was given to a team that includes an owner/operator and managers from outside the human resources department. The Hawai'i team included owner/operator Miles Ichinose, training manager John Bninski, field service manager Louis Cheung and human resources manager Paulette Wage.

    The Human Resources Award of Excellence is presented to the region with the most effective human resources individuals and/or teams that support McDonald's national employee initiatives.
