Residents may vote for Maui coastal trail funds
The Maui News
KIHEI, Maui — Maui residents can vote for a South Maui coastal trail to receive funding from the national group Save the Trails, The Maui News reported.
The South Maui Coastal Heritage Corridor is one of 20 finalists for the funding. The top 10 projects will receive a $5,000 award from Save the Trails and the National Trails Fund.
The winners will be decided by online voting. To vote, go to www.wheresyours.com and click on "Save the Trails."
The South Maui Coastal Heritage Corridor is a 15-mile corridor of walking paths, native plants and marked historical sites. The nonprofit organization Public Access Trails Hawaii is maintaining and expanding the corridor. PATH says it would use the prize money to buy tools, materials and signs for the project.
