HILO, Hawai'i — Big Island police have released, pending further investigation, three people arrested after officers found an apparent bomb while serving an arrest warrant at a home in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates.
With Schofield Barracks bomb experts on hand, officers re-entered the home yesterday.
Police say they recovered nine altered training hand grenades, about four pounds of black powder, three rifles, ammunition, fireworks and two threaded metal pipes.
The three people were held overnight before being released today.
The initial discovery led police to order an evacuation affecting about 10 homes. Residents were allowed to return to their homes yesterday evening.
