The Dallas Cowboys could lose Pro Bowl punter Mat McBriar for the season.
McBriar, a former University of Hawaii punter, suffered a main fracture and two hairline fractures to his right foot when his punt was blocked in overtime in the Cowboys' 30-24 loss to Arizona.
The Cowboys were forced to punt after receiving the kickoff in overtime. Arizona's Sean Morey blew through the line and smothered McBriar's punt. McBriar's foot hit the player and the ball was recovered and returned for a score by Monty Beisel.
As the Cardinals celebrated, McBriar laid on the turf clutching his right foot. He was carted off the field.
Jack Bectha, McBriar's agent, said McBriar could be placed on injured reserve. Otherwise, he could miss between six to eight weeks.
McBriar left Valley Ranch on crutches Monday afternoon, and the inside of his right foot was black and blue. He couldn't put any weight on his foot as he hopped into a pickup truck.
The Cowboys are scrambling to find a replacement.
They are interested in Josh Miller, a 12-year veteran who played one game for Tennessee last season. Miller was signed in the off-season by the Titans but was cut Oct. 6, when they re-signed quarterback Chris Simms.
Miller has averaged 43.1 yards per punt while playing for New England, Pittsburgh and Tennessee.
Dallas could also sign Sam Paulescu, who was cut in the Cowboys' training camp in the summer of 2007.
