State and county personnel are investigating a reported shark sighting in waters off Kualoa Beach Park this afternoon, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Terry Seelig said.

He said it's not known how far off shore the reported sighting occurred, but officials at the scene are searching the area.

"A person on the beach reported it around 3 p.m.," said Seelig.

As yet, the report is not a confirmed shark sighting, Seelig said.
