Walgreen Co. is acquiring four community pharmacies on Maui, furthering the drugstore chain's expansion in Hawai'i.
The company is acquiring Lahaina Pharmacy and three Valley Isle Pharmacy locations in separate deals expected to be completed in December and January. The three Valley Isle Pharmacy locations are inside medical office buildings in Wailuku and Lahaina. Walgreen said it intends to hire all 22 current employees, and that owners Marada Decker and William Masotti will continue with the business for awhile before retiring.
It is the first expansion to a Neighbor Island for Walgreen, which opened its first Hawai'i store last November in Honolulu.
