MADRID, Spain — Alberto Contador has confirmed he will ride for Astana in 2009. The Spaniard's future had been unclear after Lance Armstrong joined the team.

Contador met with Astana boss Johan Bruyneel to relieve tensions following weeks of uncertainty. Contador won the 2007 Tour de France.

Contador says he's confident the team is going in the right direction. He is under contract with the Kazahk team through 2010.
