MLB: Lincecum, Lee are named baseball's top pitchers by union peers

San Francisco's Tim Lincecum and Cleveland's Cliff Lee were named the top pitchers in Major League Baseball today in voting by their peers.
Lincecum received the Players Choice Award for Outstanding Pitcher in the National League, while Lee received the American League honor announced by the Major League Baseball Players Association.
In his first full season, Lincecum posted an 18-5 record with a 2.62 earned-run average, both second-best in the NL. He finished the season with a major league-best 265 strikeouts in 227 innings while earning a spot in the All-Star Game.
Lee went 22-3 to tie for the most wins in the major leagues, set a career best with a 2.54 ERA and had 170 strikeouts over 223 1/2 innings, also career bests. He was chosen as the American League's starting pitcher for the All- Star Game.
Balloting for the Players Choice Awards was conducted in September.
