Big Island police charged an 18-year-old Kapa'au man on Saturday in connection with the break-in and theft of weekend deposits from the office safe at the Foodland Farms store at Shop's at Mauna Lani.

Justin S. Yamamoto is accused of second-degree burglary and first-degree theft. The theft was reported to police last Monday.

Yamamoto was employed by Foodland Farms at the time of the burglary. He was arrested without incident when he reported for work. Police allegedly recovered cash and other items taken from the safe from Yamamoto, who is free on bail.
