House tackling meth issues in Hawaii today

The House Health Committee is holding a 10 a.m. briefing this morning to discuss meth use in Hawai'i and the reasons why Hawai'i has one of the highest rates of use in the nation.
The focus of the meeting will be on strategies to reduce meth use in the areas of prevention, treatment, recovery and legislation.
The committee is also reviewing drug trafficking patterns and a bill draft for introduction to the 2009 legislative session to eliminate meth labs in Hawai'i.
The meeting is at the state Capitol in room 325.
Joining the meeting are the Honolulu Police, the state health department, UH medical school officials and representatives of several other health and enforcement agencies.
