VOLUNTEER BUILDS FENCES FOR HO'ALA
WAHIAWA — Volunteer Del Dela Cruz recently built two fence enclosures for Ho'ala School's new Pre-Kindergarten program.
Dela Cruz worked on the fencing projects every weekend for four months to complete the required fences in time for the Pre-K opening. Dela Cruz also had assistance from his 14-year-old son, Kawana, wife, Darlene, and from teacher Jef Fern and his son Casey.
Del Dela Cruz is an employee of Bank of Hawaii and has assisted the private Ho'ala School in Wahiawa through the years with various projects.
This was the biggest project he has been involved in. Dela Cruz designed the fences to complement the plantation-style buildings as well as create a safe and secure play area for Pre-K students.
Ho'ala's Head of School, Nancy Barry, said, "Small schools like Ho'ala rely heavily on volunteer support in order to accomplish our goals while keeping the costs down. Del offered to take this project on from the design, purchase of materials, and the timely construction of the playground and Pre-K structure fencing. We couldn't be happier with the results in keeping with the 'elegant plantation' style of our campus buildings."
Pre-K opened recently at the school's Lehua Campus at 311 Lehua St. For more information, call 621-1898 or go to the Web site, www.hoala.org.
