Join us as we take a tour on the PGA Tour with Parker McLachlin, a former Punahou athlete. McLachlin earned his PGA Tour card for this season. He joins Castle alum Dean Wilson as the only Hawai'i golfers on the PGA Tour. McLachlin, Waikoloa's touring pro, will write his impressions on events that he's just completed and tournaments that are upcoming on his calendar.

Aloha from Scottsdale!

We're here in my second home, Scottsdale, Ariz., for my last competitive tournament on the PGA Tour this season, the www.Frys.com open. It's really nice to be able to sleep in my own bed and be at home when I come home from the course during the day.

Last week was the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas. Shriners Hospitals for Children was a new sponsor, and it was really cool having Justin Timberlake as a host. From what I heard and saw, Justin put a lot of time and effort into making it one of the best events on Tour.

Justin played in the Monday and Wednesday Pro-Ams, and put on a clinic on Saturday for some Shriners kids. On Friday, he put on a huge concert with a bunch of stars. I went to the concert and it was incredible. Some of the stars were Leona Lewis, Boyz II Men, Rihanna, 50 Cent and Lionel Richie. The concert raised more than $1 million for Shriners Hospitals.

I spoke with Timberlake several times. Even considering how big a star he is, he was a normal, level-headed guy and was really down to earth. The PGA Tour is fortunate to have someone like him who put so much effort into making this event a success.

On the golf course, I felt like I played pretty well. Any time you shoot four rounds in the 60s it's a huge confidence booster. Of course, it's a bummer that so many other guys were playing so well too! But overall, I felt my game was going in the right direction. I thought I made some great progress with my golf swing. Even though it's the end of the year, this should be a solid carry-over into next season.

Like I said, this week is my last competitive event on Tour. It has been a long year, so it will be nice to take a couple of months off and be at home. Kristy and I will be in Arizona the entire month of November, then during the same week as Q-School, we're going to Italy. We'll do some wine tasting and hang out around Rome.

Hopefully this will be a good, strong week and we can finish the 2008 season on the right note.

Mahalo,

Parker
