High surf advisory in effect for east-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has posted a high surf advisory for the east-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island to remain in effect through 6 a.m. Saturday.

The current north swell is expected to shift today and come at the islands from a north-northeast direction, affecting the east-facing shores.

Surf is expected to reach 5 to 8 feet with occasional 10-foot sets along east-facing shores, the Weather Service said.

Elsewhere on Oahu today, look for surf of 1 to 3 feet along south-facing shores; 2 to 4 feet along west-facing shores; and 6 to 8 feet with sets to 10 feet along north-facing shores through today.

Outlook through Wednesday, Oct. 29: Current north northeast swell will slowly subside early Saturday. Another northwest swell will arrive Friday night, and persist through the weekend into next week, with a reinforcing northwest swell by Wednesday. South facing shores will remain in generally small surf through early next week with slight increase possible Tuesday.
