Weather: Clouds and a few showers expected today

Advertiser Staff

A low-level, high pressure area far north of the state has weakened, resulting in light and variable trade winds this weekend, the National Weather Service said.

The atmosphere is somewhat moist and unstable, and scattered showers are expected over island interiors in the afternoons for the next few days, forecasters said.

A shear line will approach Kaua'i Tuesday while at the same time trade winds will return. Showers from remnants of this shear line should affect mainly windward and mountain areas by the middle of next week.
