Surf: Advisory posted for east-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for the east-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai and Maui.

A large, short-period north swell combined with moderate northeasterly winds will produce rough and choppy surf along east-facing shores of most of the smaller Hawaiian Islands this morning, forecasters said.

The swell is expected to gradually diminish throughout the afternoon. the high surf advisory for east facing shores will remain in effect through noon today.

Meanwhile, a high surf advisory that had been in affect for north-facing shores has been cancelled. Surf there is expected to diminish to 8 to 12 feet.

Elsewhere on O'ahu, look for surf of 2 to 4 feet along south- and east-facing shores.
