A Kalaheo man killed last night in a two-car collision in Koloa was Kaua'i's 11th traffic fatality of the year and the 13th person to die this month on Hawai'i's roadway.

October has been the deadiest driving month this year as the total surpasses the 11 deaths recorded in June.

Kaua'i police said Rogelio Cesario, 23, was westbound in a Toyota sedan on Koloa Road near mile-marker 3 when his car the centerline and struck a Toyota pickup driven by a 22-year-old Koloa man.

Cesario died at the scene, police said. The pickup driver was taken to Wilcox Hospital and later transferred to The Queen's Medical Center.

There were no passengers in either vehicle. Speed appears to be a contributing factor, police said.
