A 16-year-old boy was shot in the ankle this evening at a playground on Kopke and Waterhouse streets in Kalihi.

Police were still investigating the 6:15 p.m. shooting, said Honolulu Police Lt. Robert Chinen. The teen who was shot was taken to The Queen's Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this time.

It also is unknown if the weapon was an air gun or a small caliber hand gun, Police are talking to witnesses, combing the playground for evidence. The park is closed while police investigate as trick or treaters flitted along in their costumes in the neighborhood.
