Four minor quakes rattle Big Island's Volcano area

A series of four minor earthquakes in less than two hours jostled the area of the Big Island near the town of Volcano last night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quakes ranged in magnitude from 2.6 to 2.9, but no injuries or damage were reported.
The first of the earthquakes occurred at 8:13 p.m., was assigned a magnitude of 2.8 and was located 4 miles south-southwest of Volcano.
The second quake occurred at 8:24 p.m., was assigned a magnitude of 2.9 and occurred 8 miles south-southwest of Volcano.
The third quake, also at 8:24 p.m., was given a preliminary magnitude of 2.6 and occurred 4.6 miles southwest of Volcano.
The last of the four earthquakes, at 10:17 p.m., was assigned a magnitude of 2.8. It was centered about 5 miles southwest of Volcano.
