Pair charged in robbery of Big Island campers

Big Island police yesterday charged two men with allegedly robbing four campers early Monday at Kaloli Point in Puna's Hawaiian Paradise Park.
John Iopa, 19, and Kawa Salas, 18, are accused of second-degree robbery with bail at $2,000 apiece. Another man, 18, and two 17-year-old boys arrested as suspects were released pending further investigation, said Puna District Sgt. Juergen Canda.
Police said three men and a woman reported being threatened by the suspects who demanded money. One of the suspects was allegedly holding a bat. No injuries were reported.
