Minor earthquakes felt Tuesday around Volcano
Four minor earthquakes in less than two hours Tuesday night jostled the area of the Big Island near the town of Volcano, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quakes ranged in magnitude from 2.6 to 2.9, but no injuries or damage were reported.
The first of the earthquakes, at 8:13 p.m., was a magnitude 2.8 and was centered 4 miles south-southwest of Volcano.
The second quake, at 8:24 p.m., was a magnitude 2.9 and was centered 8 miles south-southwest of Volcano.
The third quake, also at 8:24 p.m., estimated at a preliminary magnitude of 2.6, was 4.6 miles southwest of Volcano.
A 10:17 p.m. quake of magnitude 2.8 was centered about 5 miles southwest of Volcano.
