Mini-mart shooting victim ID'd as Aiea woman

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Department of the Medical Examiner this morning identified the woman who was shot and killed yesterday at Bobo's Mini Mart in 'Aiea as Judy Shimamoto, 54, of 'Aiea, co-owner of the store.

The office was not yet ready to release the name of a man whose body was also found in the store by a customer about 9:45 a.m. Thursday. But several people at the scene identified him as Dennis Inouye, 61, a friend of the family who worked at the store.

Lt. Bill Kato, chief homicide investigator, said this morning that there is no evidence to suggest the shooting was anything other than a murder-suicide.

Kato said investigators reviewed video surveillance footage taken by a camera within the store, but he declined to say what the videotape showed.

He said the best way to describe the relationship between Shimamoto and the man who apparently killed her was simply "co-workers."

Investigators have not arrived at a possible motive for the shooting, Kato said.
