A check for $10,000 will be presented to the Nanakuli High and Intermediate School Robotics Club at 10 a.m. today at the school.

The gift, from Waste Management of Hawaii, will be used to help support the team in its quest to reach the national competition next year at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

The team became an inspiration for the community after it was among the finalists in last year's For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Hawai'i regional robotics competition in March — even though it was the club's first year of competition. That effort spurred the club's passion to do even better.
