Honolulu was the top city in the nation when it came to six of 45 categories related to travel, according to a survey of travelers by Travel & Leisure magazine and Headline News.

The 2008 America's Favorite Cities survey asked people to rate 25 cities. Honolulu was tops as a relaxing retreat, romantic escape, active/adventure vacations, weather, winter/Christmas travel and Thanksgiving travel. It ranked among the top five cities in 14 categories.

Honolulu ranked worst in one category: theater. It received top rankings in categories including Thanksgiving travel, Winter travel, weather, active/adventure vacation, relaxing retreat and romantic escape.
