Soccer: Liverpool fans demonstrate against American owners

LIVERPOOL, England — Liverpool fans marched on Anfield on Saturday chanting "Yanks out" in a renewed push to oust the club's American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr.
More than 2,000 disgruntled supporters carried flags and posters that read "Liars out" through the streets before Liverpool's high-profile match against Manchester United.
This week, Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher labeled the owners "ruthless." He accused them of breaking promises over debt and the new stadium. The construction of the stadium has been delayed because of a downturn in the global economy.
Gillett was inside Anfield watching his first match of the season.
