NFL: Browns lose sack; Big Ben gets catch
Associated Press
PITTSBURGH — Cleveland had another small setback today when the Elias Sports Bureau took away a Browns sack and gave Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger a pass reception from Pittsburgh's 10-6 win Sunday night.
The sack was originally credited to the Browns' Shaun Smith. The play was ruled a sack for a 7-yard loss. After reviewing the videotape, Elias changed the play to a successful pass for Roethlisberger because the ball came out of his hand, struck a teammate in the back and rebounded to the quarterback, who was tackled by Smith.
The ruling takes away one of the Browns' three sacks and changes Roethlisberger's passing statistics from 12 of 19 to 13 of 20 for 176 yards. It also lowers his NFL-leading passer rating from 136.3 to 133.9.
The Browns (0-2) travel to Baltimore and play the Ravens on Sunday.
