All the national attention caught Max Hall off guard at first, but the BYU junior quarterback has adjusted.
Hall has completed 107 of 144 passes for 1,284 yards and 15 touchdowns for BYU (4-0), which is 11th in the latest Associated Press rankings after a 44-0 win over Wyoming.
Hall, who transferred from Arizona State, has been mentioned as a possible Heisman Trophy candidate. It's something he "never anticipated," but he credits his coaches and teammates for his success.
"Again, I have to take it for what it's worth and keep doing the little things that got me to where I am," he said.
Compared to last year, when opponents tried to pressure him with blitzes and man coverage, Hall said he's faced numerous looks this year, including defenses that drop eight men back.
Now, Hall has learned how to spot what defenses are trying to do and is able to adjust.
"That's just something I didn't understand last year," he said. "Last year, I was barely holding on remembering the plays and trying to get the ball to the right guy."
