TONIGHT'S MUST-SEES

"The New Adventures of Old Christine" (7 p.m.) and "Gary Unmarried" debut (7:30 p.m.), CBS. CBS expands its comedy turf with fairly good results. First, the season-opener has Christine agreeing to marry Barb (under California's gay-marriage ruling), to keep her from being deported. Believability is strained several times here, but there's sharp humor along the way. Then we meet Gary (Jay Mohr), a play-it-by-ear guy who has a play-by-my rules ex-wife (Paula Marshall). They have nice kids and an odd therapist. The humor is too broad, but good actors keep us involved.

"Lipstick Jungle," 10 p.m., NBC. Here's a quick, slick makeover. After a too soapy first season, "Lipstick" is brighter and sometimes funny. Rosie Perez adds humor as Victory's publicist; Mary Tyler Moore has serious moments as Wendy's mom. Meanwhile, Nico finds profound changes in her precarious world.

OF NOTE

"Dancing With the Stars," 7 p.m., ABC. It's time for the first star to be ousted.

"Knight Rider," 7 p.m., NBC. This first hour packs in a season's worth of chases, fights and badly delivered dialogue. It also reworks the ideas from last year's pilot film. There are dark secrets in Mike's past. He can't remember them; others hope he never does.

"David Blaine: Dive of Death," 8 p.m., ABC. Much of this special was taped in advance, with Blaine doing close-up magic. The gimmick, however, is that he's been suspended for 60 hours from a wire five stories above New York. Then, live, he has to get down.

"Criminal Minds," 8 p.m., CBS. A fierce explosion has injured two team members, one of them critically. But who did it? What's the real plot? There are some strong moments and surprising twists.

"America's Got Talent," 8 p.m., NBC. A week from the finale, there are five acts left.

"American Masters: You Must Remember This: The Warner Bros. Story," 9 p.m., PBS. Here is the best chunk of this three-night documentary. Ranging from 1950-89, it covers the era when Warner was a home for individual genius. From James Dean and Warren Beatty to Stanley Kubrick and Clint Eastwood, it made movies in a personal, passionate way.

"The Hunt for Black Gold," 9 p.m. and 1 a.m., CNBC. Don't look for good news here. Experts tell Maria Bartiromo that the most promising oil sources have been found. The search grows; the discoveries don't.
