Advertiser Staff
A Men's March Against Violence will be held at noon on Oct. 9 at the State Capitol.
Speakers from the state Legislature, ethnic communities and other men will be participating.
The march, along with a rally, will address issues such as:
Every 7.5 seconds a woman is beaten in America. Three out of five girls will have been physically abused or sexually molested by the time they are 18 years old. Hospital and police reports indicate that domestic violence causes more injuries to women in the United States than rape, muggings and car accidents combined. The perpetrators of violence against our children, wives, aunts, mothers and grandmothers are not strangers or neighbors; they are other family members. According to Honolulu Police Department statistics, 14,433 personal/family violence offenses were reported on O`ahu in 2001.
