Man arrested in Kalihi shooting

Advertiser Staff

A 34-year-old Honolulu man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder this morning, following an incident in Kalihi in which a 27-year-old man was shot.

Jeffrey M. Tolentino, of an Ala Moana address, was arrested on Lima Street after the shooting occurred late Friday night, police said.

Details were sketchy, but police said, the shooting was the result of an argument between the suspect and several men in Kalihi shortly before midnight Friday.

A group was gathered in front of a residence when the suspect drove up in a car and words were exchanged, police said. The suspect then drove about 100 feet down the street and stopped, they said.

He then got out of his car and opened fire, shooting several rounds at the group. One shot struck the victim in the leg, police said.

The suspect then left the scene, but was later identified and arrested.

Tolentino remains in custody, police said.
