ALL-DAY HOOLAULEA
Family fun and music
Entertainment by some of Hawai'i's favorite award-winning artists is just part of the package at today's eighth annual Windward Ho'olaule'a at Windward Community College.
There's a silent auction that includes a 2009 Nissan Versa, handmade baskets, ceramics and wooden bowls and plaques, jewelry, dining and hotel packages, artwork and more. Proceeds will support the college's first general scholarship endowment.
There are Imaginarium shows, chemistry demonstrations, a white-elephant and book sale and community organization booths.
There's food from Can Do Catering, Crepes No Ka 'Oi, Haleiwa Joe's and more; and lots of arts and crafts.
But back to the entertainment. Among the big-name performers are Hoku Zuttermeister, recent winner of four Na Hoku Hanohano awards, at 5:15 p.m.; Cyril Pahinui and friends at 6:15 p.m.; Pilioha at 7:15 p.m.; and Kaukahi at 8:15 p.m.
The theme of the family-friendly ho'olaule'a is "Pulama ka hanauna hou — Nurturing the next generation."
