Native Hawaiian Convention to hold first-ever session in Hawaiian
Associated Press
The annual Native Hawaiian Convention will conduct a session entirely in the Hawaiian language for the first time this year.
The session is called "Olelo Hawaii in the Mainstream Media."
It will take place during the seventh annual conference, which is set for Tuesday through Thursday at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu. It's sponsored by the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement and 91 Native Hawaiian member organizations.
Council Senior Vice President Napali Woode says the Hawaiian language should be brought into the mainstream.
The Hawaiian language session will be presented by Amy Kalili, the anchor of the nation's first native language show on network news, and Naalehu Anthony, a documentary and news filmmaker.
