Henry L. Mara of Wai'anae, who died Sept. 19 after being arrested by Honolulu police, may have died from an internal injury.
The Honolulu medical examiner's office performed an autopsy on Mara Sept. 22 but held off listing cause of death pending test results.
Honolulu CrimeStoppers issued a bulletin on Friday seeking information from anyone who may have seen Mara on Sept. 19 between 7 a.m. and noon in Kapolei. Mara had been seen between 5:30 and 7 a.m. in Ma'ili and may have taken a bus to Kapolei.
Mara, 47, was arrested Sept. 19 on suspicion of criminal trespassing at Kapolei Shopping Center. He was at the Kapolei police station when he complained of illness and was taken to Hawai'i Medical Center-West, where he died at 7:31 p.m.
Authorities are investigating how Mara may have suffered the injury and are awaiting lab tests that could determine approximately when the injury occurred. The police department also is conducting an internal investigation into Mara's arrest.
Mara's criminal record includes 17 convictions.
