Australian rider killed in motorcycle race

LAUNCESTON, Australia — A motorcycle rider has been killed and another injured during a race at an Australian Superbikes meet.
The accident occurred at Symmons Plains Raceway near Launceston on the island state of Tasmania during the second round of the domestic Superbikes championships Sunday. Racing was stopped for the day following the fatal crash, which involved two motorcycles hitting a fallen rider on the third lap of the race.
Tasmania Police confirmed a 29-year-old rider had died in the incident. His name was not immediately released.
