Hawai'i leads the team standings entering the final day of competition of the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship.
The seventh day of the eight-day contest was run yesterday in 3- to 4-foot waves at Salinas, Ecuador.
The final day will run today. There are 18 surfers remaining for the final day of competition, and Hawai'i has five.
In the Boys 18 division, Dylan Goodale of Kaua'i remained undefeated by advancing through the fifth round of the winners bracket.
In the Boys 16 division, Kaimana Jaquias of Kaua'i remained undefeated by advancing through the fifth round of the winners bracket.
Also, Keanu Asing of 'Ewa advanced through three heats in the repechage bracket. If he advances through one more repechage heat, he will compete in the championship heat.
In the Girls 18 division, Leila Hurst of Kaua'i and Alessa Quizon of Makaha remained undefeated by advancing through the fifth round of the winners bracket.
However, Kaua'i surfers Malia Manuel and Nage Melamed were eliminated in the repechage bracket.
Three-time defending team champion Australia is in second place and has four surfers remaining.
The event is considered the world championship for surfers age 18 and younger. It started with more than 260 surfers representing 28 countries/regions.

HPU IN GOLD BRACKET; CU, UHH IN BRONZE
Hawai'i Pacific split a pair of games yesterday to become one of eight teams advancing to the gold bracket championship of the Tournament of Champions in Turlock, Calif.
The Sea Warriors will play Cal State Monterey Bay today in a gold bracket quarterfinal of the three-day, 20-team tournament.
Hawai'i-Hilo will meet Chaminade in the bronze bracket championship semifinal with the winner playing UC San Diego for the bronze bracket title.
In yesterday's games, host Cal State Stanislaus beat Hawai'i Pacific, 4-2; Humboldt State beat Chaminade, 8-7; Cal State Stanislaus beat Chaminade, 10-3; Hawai'i-Hilo beat Central Washington, 9-1; Sonoma State beat Chaminade, 8-0; Hawai'i Pacific beat UC San Diego, 12-3; and Northwest Nazarene beat Hawai'i-Hilo, 2-1.
