Brushfire forces closure of Farrington Highway
Fire spread across 20 to 30 acres of brush near Makua Cave last night and forced the closure of Farrington Highway in both directions as Honolulu firefighters fought to contain it.
The blaze was reported at 8:13 p.m. Six fire companies, two tankers and a battalion chief were dispatched to the site, according to Honolulu fire Capt. Robert Main.
Main said the fire spread uphill because of high winds in the area.
