TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"KATHY GRIFFIN: SHE'LL CUT A BITCH," 6 P.M., BRAVO
This is what Kathy Griffin does best -- simply chatting about her celebrity encounters.
Some of her comments -- about the Jonas Brothers, for instance -- are harsh and unfair. Still, we're pretty sure we heard ourselves laughing out loud.
In some, the humor comes in her own sense of awe (of Cher) or intimidation (of James Gandolfini). And some merely surprise us.
Griffin insists that her mother tricks a department store into refunds for something it never sold. This is an odd, perverse sort of humor, redeemed by the fact that it's also very funny.
TONIGHT'S MIGHT-SEE
"SCRUBS," 7 P.M., ABC
TV likes to have weddings on gorgeous, tropical islands. This one, however, was planned by Janitor and Lady as a scam to get presents; optimism is scarce.
"Men are just gassy, selfish, sex-crazed ego-maniacs who are put on this Earth to make your life miserable," Carla helpfully informs the bride.
Soon, the justice of the peace -- played by Bill Lawrence, who created "Scrubs" and directed this episode -- is telling people that marriage is a dead institution. "It's a "Scrubs"-style wedding. In the show's stop-and-start, hit-and-miss style, it's sometimes quite funny.
