Woman killed in Big Island traffic accident

A young woman died early Sunday morning in a traffic accident at Hawaiian Paradise Park on the Big Island, police said.
The accident happened at Paradise Drive and 25th Avenue when a speeding car hit a power pole. The call came in at 6:35 a.m., police said. The driver, a woman in her 20s or 30s, was dead at the scene. A front-seat passenger was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released.
High voltage power lines were down at the scene and HELCO, Hawaiian Tel and Oceanic Cable crews dealt with the situation.
