Newly renovated 40 South School Street Offices get eco designation

The recently renovated 40 South School Street Offices has been awarded LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

LEED is a USGBC's rating system for designing and constructing energy efficient buildings. The office was designed by Philip K White & Associates.

40 South School Street's LEED certification was based on a number of design and construction features, including a photo-voltaic array on the roof, dualpane windows, outdoor sun shades to reduce heat gain, water-efficient plumbing fixtures and landscaping, eco-friendly paint, occupancy sensors for interior lighting and high efficiency air conditioning units.

Last year the 40 South School Street project was recognized by the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties Hawai'i Chapter with two of its Kukulu Hale Awards of Excellence—including the organization's first Green Building Award and the Renovation Award for projects 40,000 square-feet or less.
