A man is in critical condition after he was pulled unresponsive from Hanauma Bay this afternoon.
The man, possibly in his 60s, was seen floating in the bay shortly before 1 p.m., said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Department of Emergency Services. Lifeguards got to the man and brought him to shore, where they began CPR, Cheplic said. He said the lifeguards were able to restore the man's pulse and he began to breathe on his own.
Ambulance personnel stablized the man and he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
