CBKB: Isiah Thomas' deal with FIU: 5 years, $1.29 million
MIAMI — Isiah Thomas will make $1.29 million in base salary alone from Florida International if he stays at the school for five seasons.
That figure doesn't include incentives and variable compensation that the former New York Knicks coach and president could receive, such as a cut of concession sales at home games and bonuses for championships and strong academic achievement by his team.
A copy of Thomas' deal was released to The Associated Press on Thursday.
Thomas will not take a salary in his first year at the school, but is entitled to reimbursement for temporary housing costs. His base salary will range from $250,000 in the second year through $350,000 in the fifth year, and if he completes five seasons, he'll receive a $100,000 bonus.
