Homeowner says tenants accused grandson of stealing moped

Advertiser Staff

The owner of a Makiki Heights home destroyed by an early morning fire said this afternoon that an argument over a stolen moped preceded the blaze.

Homeowner HRH Fleur, 77, said she escaped the flames with only the clothes on her back.

The six-bedroom, three-story home was completely gutted. Two people have been confirmed dead, another remains unaccounted for.

Fleur said one of the tenants, a woman, accused her grandson of stealing her moped and that accusations were lobbed back and forth.

She said she believes that the two bodies found in the charred remains are those of the two tenants but she said their identities have not been confirmed.
