The recently renovated 40 South School Street Offices has been awarded LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
LEED is the USGBC's rating system for designing and building energy-efficient buildings. The office was designed by Philip K White & Associates.
The certification was based on a number of eco-friendly design and construction features, including a photo-voltaic array on the roof, dual-pane windows, outdoor sun shades to reduce heat gain, water-efficient plumbing fixtures and landscaping, eco-friendly paint, occupancy sensors for interior lighting and high-efficiency air-conditioning units.
