Advertiser Staff

A 53-foot replica of a Ming Dynasty sailboat that visited Hawaii in December capsized off Taiwan today, but all 11 crew members were rescued. Five of the crew are from Hawaii.

Taipei officials in Hawaii said the wooden vessel Princess Tai-Ping capsized about 30 nautical miles from Suao Port at 10:18 a.m. Hawaii time Saturday. Taiwan Coast Guard helicopters rescued all 11 crew members. One crew member was injured. All were examined at hospitals in Taiwan.

The Hawaii residents aboard were Jason Arnold; Larz Stewart; John Hunter; Elizabeth Zeiger, and Jack Durham. None was injured. Their families have been notified.

The Princess Tai-Ping visited Hawaii last December and sailed with the Hokulea during her time here.
