Baldwin alum Kaluka Maiava, a member of an elite group of linebackers from USC, was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round today.

Maiava, who played for Baldwin on Maui, was the 104th player picked overall and joins former University of Hawaii defensive end/outside linebacker David Veikune.

At 6 feet and 228 pounds, Maiava is considered small for a linebacker by NFL standards.

But one NFL scout said Maiava was the most instinctive of all the USC linebackers, which included Brian Cushing, Rey Maualuga and Clay Matthews.

Cushing and Matthews were first-round draft picks. Maualuga was drafted in the second round.

Malava is from a football family. His father, Scott Mahoney, played at Colorado and he is the nephew of actor/wrestler Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson, who played at Miami.

The Browns did not have a third-round pick on day two of the draft. Cleveland has three selections in the sixth round.
