Bourne scores 14 points in U.S. loss to Cuba in junior volleyball

Honolulu's Tri Bourne scored 14 points, including nine on kills, in the United States' three-set loss to Cuba today in the second round of pool play at the FIVB Men's Junior World Championships in Pune, India.

The scores were 25-23, 25-23, 25-23. The United States is 0-2 in the second round and 2-3 overall. It will play Iran in its final second-round match tomorrow before finishing in the classification playoffs for fifth to eighth place.
Bourne, an Academy of the Pacific alum who plays for USC, also had four blocks and an ace. Honolulu's Brad Lawson, an ‘Iolani alum who plays for Stanford, scored two points on one kill and one block. Both players are outside hitters.
Team USA libero Erik Shoji, a Punahou alum at Stanford, had nine digs.
Brazil defeated the United States, 25-21, 25-23, 22-25, 25-17, in the second-round pool play opener on Tuesday.
